Form check on my deadlift — lower back rounding

Posted by Thabo M. · Strength Training

Pulled 140kg for a triple today and noticed my lower back rounding on the last rep. I've been following the 5x5 program from the beginner section. Anyone else dealt with this? I'm filming from a side angle and can share the video in the thread.

Home gym upgrade — should I get a squat rack or a rower?

Posted by Nadia v. · Home Gym Setups

I've got a small garage setup with adjustable dumbbells and a bench. My training is mostly strength work but I want to add more conditioning. Budget is tight, so I can only pick one. What would you prioritise for a 3-day upper/lower split?

Meal prep for night shifts — high protein, no microwave needed

Posted by Sipho K. · Meal Prep & Nutrition

Yesterday

Starting night shifts at the hospital next week and my usual chicken and rice routine won't work without a microwave. Looking for cold meal ideas that still hit 40g protein per meal. So far I've got tuna wraps and cottage cheese bowls, but I need more variety.

First 10K race report — what worked and what didn't

Posted by Johan B. · Running

Finished my first 10K in 58:42 on Saturday. Followed the Couch to 10K plan from the running section and stuck to three runs per week. Pacing was the hardest part — went out too fast in the first 3K. Full breakdown of splits and nutrition in the thread.

Mobility work for desk workers — 15 minute routine

Posted by Anel P. · Mobility & Recovery

I put together a quick mobility routine for anyone sitting at a desk all day. It's 15 minutes, uses just a yoga mat and a foam roller, and targets hips, shoulders, and thoracic spine. I've been doing it every morning for a month and my squat depth has improved noticeably.

What counts as a training log

A training log is a dated record of your sessions — sets, reps, weights, and how you felt. We don't require fancy apps; a notebook or a thread works. Logs must be your own, not copied from a program or influencer.

Form check conditions

Post a clear video or detailed description. Feedback is based on what we see, not on your lifting numbers. We focus on safety and mechanics, not on comparing you to others. Be specific about the lift and your goal.

The form check threads helped me fix my deadlift setup. I was pulling with a rounded back for months and never knew. Now my lower back feels solid and my numbers are climbing.

I posted my weekly split and got feedback within hours. People pointed out I was doing too much volume on leg day and not enough on pull. Switched things up and my recovery improved a lot.

The meal prep section is gold. I found a slow-cooker chili recipe that gives me four lunches for under R150. It is simple, high in protein, and my family eats it too.

As a beginner, I was nervous to ask questions. But everyone here is patient and gives practical advice. I went from zero gym experience to a consistent 3-day routine in two months.

The home gym section convinced me to buy adjustable dumbbells instead of a full rack. Saved me a lot of money and space. The reviews are honest and not sponsored fluff.

I asked about recovery strategies for shift workers and got a ton of useful responses. Stretching routines, sleep tips, and even how to time meals around night shifts. Real people, real answers.
